A new journey starts today! Welcome to the blog about tackling overthinking. My name is Heather and I am a wife, daughter, sister, Mother, Oma, nurse and friend to many.
I often struggle to sleep due to racing thoughts and I suspect I am not alone. This blog will be my outlet to help process my ideas and spur conversation and personal reflection. Studies from the Sleep Foundation show that women statistically lose sleep more than men due to anxiety and depression. I often climb into bed, exhausted, and as soon as my head hits the pillow it’s like a flip is switched in my brain and I have to process all of the things I did for the day and wonder if I did them correctly.
If you’ve made it this far, I’m glad you’re here. I will tackle different topics every week that is primarily driven by what has kept me awake. Journaling by hand was a thought, but I didn’t want my hand to get tired. Yes, that’s where I’m at in my life.
I will leave you with a quote today about sleep from C.S. Lewis
“Many things – such as loving, going to sleep, or behaving unaffectedly – are done worst when we try hardest to do them.”
